Dag Yo

Today September is half-way over and it freaks me out...

I have lived in my little Orchard Shack for a year now.

It's strange to think about.

Living alone has been nice & therapeutic.

But I hate paying rent.

Yesterday my friend Andie Johnson (who is I believe is my guardian angel) took me to go see a property I have been curious about in Pleasant Grove. The house is ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE. The master bedroom is beautiful airy and big, with cute little shelves and a study area. The bathroom is vintage. The kitchen is cozy. And the backyard is awesome with a party patio, basketball court, and garage. In a really good location on a main road up to Grove Creek Canyon. Which is all I have ever really wanted. It's perfect for me. PERFECT!

It's listed at 144,900.

If I hadn't been paying rent all year I could buy it right now.

Doesn't that make you sick?

It makes me a little sick.

Tender Yellow Houses With Flag Poles

I've had my eye on this house in pleasant grove for over a year now. The backyard is HUGE with a giant garden spot. It also has a weird burnt down garage in the back with a weird scary cellar. There is a flag pole in the front yard. It's almost perfect.

Anyways, I love it. When I first saw ran into it - the price was over $100,000. Right now it is listed at $72,620!!! That is so cheap! The only catch is that it can't be bank financed - cash only, because the foundation is made out of railroad ties. How cool.

One day I will be able to afford a crappy little house that I can fix up myself, and it will have a HUGE garden/yard out back...

Seems Wrong...

Something doesn't sit right when I think about informing PARK City that we are taking away their PARKing. It's like we are taking away their derivement!

But a jobs a job.

I like Park City because they got street names like Annie Oakley Dr, Samuel Colt Ct, Sidewinder Dr, Doc Holiday Dr, Wyatt Earp Way, Muchkin Rd, Bonanza, and Butch Cassidy Ct.

While hanging door hangers around their neighborhoods you see garages like this:

And porches like this:

And when you are driving past Jordanelle, you see moose running along side the highway.

This Is Where I'll Raise My Sons

This is my favorite house in the whole world.
I take the long way just to catch a glance at it.

I will own it one day clear up in a canyon (perhaps south fork).
It will have a creek and a swimming pond.
And a clothes line.
And lots of crocheted afgans.
And quilts.
And a flag pole.
And a chicken coop
And carrier pigeons.
And a big dog on the porch.
And a shooting range.
And a bunker house.

And my door will be open to you, stay as long as you'd like.

Happy Winter Solstice

Wouldn't being snowed in be heavenly?

This weekend there was a lot of sitting around, chit-chatting, reading, knitting and crocheting. I think my dream house is just a big rambler/ranch-style cottage up in the woods. As I sat and knitted I tried to imagine what the cottage would look like, and drew out the floor plan in my head. It's going to be perfect.

I like low ceilings and cozy rooms (sort of like a hobbit's hole). A kitchen connected to the sitting living room, with big wooden beams running along the low ceiling just above your head... a big fire place, lots of yarn to be knitted, lots of good books to be read, snow shoes to be worn, and a bearded handsome lumber jack chopping wood outside.

oh, and a stereo in the corner playing 'in the clouds' by under the influence of giants.
