99 Days of Summer Challenge

Thanks for everyone that is posting, reading these lists makes me so happy!

So I thought I'd share some of the lists that have been popping up the past couple days (since everyone on IG is private these days), so you can see some of the other lists and plans people have made. I love reading them, they are delightful!

My mom started making these lists a couple summers ago to push herself to do more and really soak up summer. Traditionally, there are 99 days between Memorial day and Labor day, but this year, since Memorial day was early, we technically have 104 days of summer... but we are sticking with 99 since it's more fun to say.

Hopefully after this contest is over you will post pictures of you completing items on your list, use the hashtag #99daysofsummer15 so we can all see what you are up to. My mom's '99 days of summer' lists are some of my favorite, last year her and my dad had "eat pizza with wanton abandon" on their list, which is now one of my favorite summer must-do activities!

hike the DC/DC, in AF Canyon (best hike nobody goes on)
go for a midnight walk through your neighborhood
cook with three new vegetables
attend an estate sell
dance in the rain
make a dream catcher
plant some milkweeds
take a mini road trip to Cafe Diablo or Hell's Backbone Grill
ride a roller coaster
see the mountain wildflowers
sing with the church choir
explore a ghost town
make the world's best burger
throw a party
grow a mini fairy garden
wear your hair in a pompadour
work your way through a summer cookbook, or salad cookbook
go garage sell hopping
sleep in the backyard after the kids have been put to bed
watermelon seed spitting contest
make a new summer mixed CD
fly somewhere random

The reason for the instagram quilt giveaway is just for fun. I love making quilts and I really don't need another blanket in my possession right now so why not give a quilt away? And since I had so much fabric I thought, why not make two? Since sharing with a friend might be a fun extra prize.
But whether or not your name gets pulled tomorrow, crossing off as many fun summer plans as you can will make you a winner... especially if you tagged a friend to join in the adventures.

Making these quilts have brought me so much joy... it's been fun to have something to do inside while it rains, and it's been fun anticipating sunshine summer weather with all of you! I wish I could make you all a quilt!
