Most of you have been hanging on the edge of your seats, wondering when I was going to make another Coen Brother's post (or any post for that matter).Well don't worry, the club is still having it's regular meetings... one was canceled because Mike was in New York. And today we will not meet on account of it being Doodle's birthday, and it's Thanksgiving tomorrow.
But we did meet last week and watched Fargo. I am loving this club, I haven't known anything about any of these movies. Each one has been a surprise because they are all so different. When you watch a Guy Ritchie film you know what you are going to get... British thugs, British accents, quick funny scenes, and an illusive item (painting, diamond, guns) in each movie which is stolen and shifts through the hands of all the characters in the movie as they try to reclaim it.
Every Coen Brother movie, so far, has been so different from the previous one.
Fargo blew me away! I loved it so much that I want to visit Minnesota just to hear for myself people talking in that accent. And to prove that it really exists, because I'm convinced it's not real, it's too insane. I loved the chief lady (played by Joel Coen's wife) in the movie and how calm she was in dealing with the murders that happened, and being 7 months pregnant. She was never phased, and her Minnesota accent never failed to delight. Her character really is brilliant. You betcha.
Of course, this movie is disturbing... disturbing sorta like how reading "In Cold Blood" is disturbing, or disturbing like when you see school children hanging out at gas station late at night. Which, I'm sure, is why they tell you it is based off a true story at the beginning. The whole movie you are trying to wrap your mind around the fact that this really did happen! How could this really happen?!?!? How could humans be so gross and heartless?
After the movie was over we watched an interview with the Coen brothers, they are such nerds! Such artistic goofy nerds!
I can't wait for the next film.
Have ya tried the friccasee?
