CBMWC Part III: Barton Fink

Barton Fink was last night.

It was weird, it was deep, it was artistic, it was political, it was symbolic.

(Do you know I love Wikipedia more than IMDB when it comes to looking up movie facts?  It's true, I do.)

According to Wikipedia, this movie was nominated for three academy awards, and won other awards for best director and best actor. It also says that the Coen Brothers wrote the script for this movie in three weeks, while being frustrated with writing their other film, Miller's Crossing. This movie for sure paints the picture that the Coen brothers had some beef with the film industry, and were fed up with the politics of the entertaining business.

I did enjoy the symbolism in the movie, and trying to figure out what everything meant. I liked the theme of the intellectual vs. the common man in the movie, and the WWII references... though I didn't understand them all....

I didn't love this movie, but respect it.

The movie gets a little too weird, for my taste.
