Deer Creek Dry Creek, Pt. 4

Mom and I decided to hike the DCDC trail this weekend. I sort of tricked my mom into thinking that the hike wasn't as hard as it really is, but she was so happy to be tricked. It's a hard hike, but worth it. We parked the van up in Alpine Cove, drove my bug to the Granite Flats campground above Tibble Fork, and started trekking.
I love this hike. I love hiking up out of the canyon and over the mountains to get back to the valley. The best part of this hike is, after reaching the top, coming down through the beautiful pines and quackies and seeing all the big granite slabs everywhere. Takes your breath away.

(community flats, finding winter)

 (I love youth!)

Such a gratifying hike. I didn't want it to end, so we took our time. I contemplated building a little log cabin up there and never coming back down. We loved reading the names on the quackies along the trail, people have been hiking up there since 1944, so rad.
