Mountain Woman Music: Airstream Song

have I posted this photo ever?

Probably not, I think I just emailed it to McKay once because she was designing the floor plan to our apartment in the city, for when we are older and live in the city (ya know, just planning for the future). I told her I wanted an airstream on the top of our apartment building. "What?!? What would be in there? like a bed room? more plants? I don't know if we have need for that."  - was her response. Typical. McKay only likes airstreams in weird places, like in my parents backyard, in the ditch that isn't flowing any more. For grand-kids that don't even exist.

McKay and I do share a love for airstreams, though. I love them. As I love any small little cozy home that surprises you in the middle of nowhere. In a ditch or a city rooftop.. either way we need an airstream. We just got to be able to move it once, and then let the dirt, weeds and flowers cozy on up to it... and with a secret path to get to it. Box car children style.

Mark sent me this song a few weeks ago by Miranda Lambert. It's perfect because I love both airstreams and gypsies so much. If you would like the actual mp3, let me know and I'll send it to you via gmail, and for a limited time only the shipping is free of cost!

~
sometimes I wish I lived in an airstream
homemade curtains, lived just like a gypsy
break a heart, roll out of town
‘cause gypsies never get tied down

sometimes I wish I lived on a mountain
drank from a stream instead of a fountain
I’d stay there, top of the world
but I was born a red dirt girl

unbridled or tethered and tied
the safety of the fence or the danger of the ride
I’ll always be unsatisfied

sometimes I wish I lived by a pier
in a lighthouse with a chandelier
I’d watch everybody’s ships come in
and then I’d sail away with them

unanchored in the storm
or safely on the shore
if this is all I need, why do I want more?

sometimes I wish I lived in an airstream
homemade curtains, lived just like a gypsy

  1. Whitney, you are right, this would be cool. I'll find our floor plan and make the changes.

Maybe we can have two? one in the apartment? . . think about it.

  2. I too love a good airstream.
Make it into your rooftop guest house. Or quilting room.

  3. This is what I'm picturing:

You and Mckay as old women. You are living in the city on the top floor of a large building. The airstream is parked nicely on your roof with a very out of control roof top garden. The airstream is for all of your cats. Hundreds of cats.

  4. Did you know grandpa always wanted an airstream - more than a cadillac I think. So he could camp at Panguitch Lake.
