84 Candles

I love these pictures Sara took last night at our Grandpa's birthday party:

I especially love this last picture, with all the cousins' arms helping to light the 84 candles. And grandpa is just kicking back a soda and watching - no doubt conjuring up the courage & strength to blow all of them out. I wonder when the last time someone took the time to put ALL the candles on his birthday cake. And when did we, as a society, stop caring about putting all the candles on? I've decided, right now as I type this, that I'm not a fan of the big wax number candles - they take the magic out of birthday cakes. What's the point in growing old if you can't add another candle to the cake?

Anyways, I love this big family. I love when Grandpa has a birthday and we all make the effort to get together and be with each other.
