Weekend-ul Bun

I keep thinking about how fun and easy going this last weekend ended up being. My friend Pat came up to see Iron and Wine at the gallivan center and decided to spend 3 nights at my house, and miracles of miracles McKay decided to come hang out with us too. I am posting this youtube clip because I think it sums up my weekend beautifully:

Pat showed it to McKay and I late one night and I thought my side was going to split from laughing so hard. And I really am upset it's had over 3.5 million views - and I just now saw it! That grape lady has been in my mind ever since, and every time I think about her I have to refrain from busting out with the giggles.

I usually get real sick of watching youtube videos real fast, but I didn't seem to mind this weekend. Being around McKay and Pat put me in such a good mood. McKay and I kept laughing at each other, like we hadn't been around each other in years (which I'm sure got real old to Pat - I hope we weren't too obnoxious). And Pat is so easy going and just a good fun inspiring human to be around. We watched the documentary Man on the Wire, and the movie Run Fat Boy Run, and a lot of Sunny in Philedelphia (don't know if I feel good about admitting that). I also got beat real bad in hearts, played ticket to ride, played 5 crowns, quoted woo woo, terry tate the office line-backer and dee on steriods, pat nick-named mckay "slosh" - which was brilliant. We ate indian food, ate rubio fish tacos, ate five guys burgers and fries, had our lives spared by a delicious and life-giving mountain spring, hiked too far and too high, found a lucky horse shoe, shot up some diet soda (not with needles - I mean with hand guns), went to a crazy jewelry party, and I used the word "gesticulations" in an adult social gathering - it was a real milestone for me.

All in all, it was a good weekend. And I thank Pat and McKay.

  1. you didn't get anything kicked in hearts, and the only way I was able to run it was McKay didn't stop me.
I think we just need to play a lot more hearts.

  2. Whitney, I don't think I have laughed so hard all by myself. I have tears in my eyes right now. That noise that women makes!! And then the reporters! I can hear it in my ears and it makes me laugh all over again. Ah, that felt good. Thank you.

ps, I can't believe I haven't seen that yet either.

PS "You know you have to put a cover sheet on your reports Richard! That ain't new baby!...Hey Janice!"
