Timpanooke

Last night I spoke at a girls camp up the canyon. It was my second trip up to Timpanooke in past week or so. I love it up there. The wild flowers are out of control right now.

This is a quote I shared during the fireside:

"A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects."
-Robert A Heinlein

I love that quote, and wanted to remember it.

This quote reminds me of Sora Avramescu in Bucharest. She was such an old weird woman. But I am sure she could do all of the things listed in this quote. Well, she could do anything except leave her house without taking all her food with her (she had OCD big time and thought that people were after her food). She once told me, refering to a cabinet she had repaired and painted, "ar trebuie sa nu fie nimic in aceasta lume nu putem sa facem" - which means there shouldn't be anything in this world we can't do.

She was inspiring. In a crazy way.

  3. so this is kind of unrelated, but remember that time when you started crying over your McDonalds BigMac about having to leave and how much you would miss all of that fun? hehe. that was awesome. lumea se schimba, BigMac ramane la fel.
