Whitney in Fiji

In just over two months I am going to take a little break from drawing sewer lines for UDOT and actually dig sewer lines for villages in Fiji.

For some reason the good people at Alliance for Youth Service think Mary Wollenzien is qualified to fly to a third world country and be responsible for a bus load of youth. To be an example to them, get them to bed on time, get them up in the morning, get them to work on the humanitarian project, do firesides with them, strengthen their testimonies, keep them safe...

Mary and I are going to be youth group leaders in Fiji!!!

REALLY?!? US!?!?

Funny to imagine that a decade ago I was driving my blue blazer around highland and alpine, hitting garbage cans to watch them bounce down the road, with Mary at my side.   And I can still hear Mary's voice as she was buzzing my head in Justin Badger's backyard and got too close to my scalp..
"are you sure you don't have bald spots on your head?"
"What?!?! No!"
"oh dear"

I'm actually super excited for the trip. Mary is flying down early to get some quick instructions from her boss about the island and what we'll be doing for 3 weeks before he flies out to Tonga. Then I fly in to spend time with Mary for a few days before all the kiddies get there. Then that's that, we are the ones running the show. Even the parents that come with the kids aren't going to know what's going on. We will be large and in charge!!! BWAHAHAHAHA!!

If you would like to donate to the madness, that would be very much appreciated (my little bills still need to get paid while I am away). The trip breaks down to about 130$ for every day while I am there. You can donate any amount. But if you would like to sponsor me for a WHOLE day (130 buckaroos), I will donate that whole day to you... wear whatever you ask me to, take pictures for you, eat good food for you, kayak for you, boss kids around for you... whatever you want!

Really, I think this a very good thing. The youth on this trip are going to have amazing experiences, it's like a mini-mission. I promise with your donations I will be their stalwart, courageous, beautiful leader.

  3. How fun! I'm feeling so left out. Hopefully this goes better than the time we were "in charge" of the kids candy race at the Highland Fling. But donate I will $5.00 for you and $5.00 for Mary...It's not much but I have my own children to feed. But I'll put a link up on my blog if that will help.
