Salt N' Pepper

We went exploring the shops at pike place, and happened upon the craziest antique stores which sold trillions and trillions of antique salt and pepper shakers!

As you can see by my face above, I was ecstatic!

kaylene and mckay probably were worried thinking we were going to have to spend the entire rest of the day trapped in this store, because it took me f o r e v e r to decide on which one to purchase. Luckily the salt and pepper shakers were entertaining enough that I think they both enjoyed their time spent in there (hopefully). McKay at least got tons of wonderful pictures of some of them, oh man, these things are so weird and wonderful.

I love them so bad.

...so I collect salt and pepper shakers. no big deal. I admit it is a weird grandma thing to do, but for some reason I do it. I actually forget I collect salt and pepper shakers most of the time, I just don't think about them. Then when I see a cool one somewhere, it's so strange, I HAVE to have it, it's like I can't help myself. Then I remember the other cool ones I have stashed away at home. And then I think about the little shakers gracing my own dinner table one day, each dinner some different shakers. I get so excited! I don't own very many, but the ones I do own are super cool.

I came home this weekend with two more sets to add to the collection. One I found and purchased from this store (it's my new ultimate favorite), another from an estate sell that we attended earlier that morning. sweet day!

  5. I can't believe you didn't mention this yesterday. I wanna see them!
When I nannied in New York for an illustrator; she also collected salt and pepper shakers. The family was really rich and they had these huge shelves built in the wall just to fit her collection. She was super classy and stylish-- so I think you have nothing to worry about. They looked rad. I've kind of always wanted to collect them, but maybe I'll just enjoy your collection instead.

  9. I didn't put a picture of the one I bought, just picture in your mind a pair shakers way cooler than any of these showing, and that is what I ended up with.

if you thought of two hot dogs as the salt and pepper shakers, you thought correctly.
