Blizzard and Hobby Magazines

Today between school and work I stopped at the house and made me some mac n' cheese and watched some Malcom n' the Middle. Then the blizzard struck! I tried to brave the storm and drive to work through the white-out, but I couldn't see a thing. I got to Kohlers, and then turned right around. Visibility was horrible, I could barely make out the cars ahead of me.

Apparently there was huge wrecks all day long today. One involving almost 20 diesel trucks!

It was nice not going in to work. I stayed home and got my room cleaned and vacuumed. Then I read from a free ski/snowboarding magazine that I received in the mail. I love reading "hobby" magazines they crack me up, they are so outrageous and one-sided. The people who write these, and I guess read them, are so so into the hobby (at least they write like they are) it sometimes freaks me out. I can never relate to fanatics, I just feel like they are not very grounded. I wonder if I'll ever have a hobby that I'm completely obsessed with? I suppose that I enjoy ski/snowboarding magazines because I can sort of grasp the love of the hobby. But even then, I put down the magazine and feel a little over-whelmed that I haven't dropped out of college to work as a lifty at a resort, and that I don't have the latest snowboard fashion and gear. That's what I feel like these magazines are wanting me to do!

Geeze! Hmmm... in any case, a great line from one of the ad's I read was: IN SNOW WE TRUST! Another fantastic line was from a writer describing his obsession with skiing: (it's like) DANCING WITH GRAVITY THROUGH THE CRISP WINTER AIR. Wow, I love that! I love dancing with gravity.

I also love the helmet I bought for this season, it has already been very useful.

Cheers!
