RS Baller

Woke up just in time to rush out the door to Relief Society ball on Saturday morning. Last year, this same time of year, I vowed to never play RS ball ever again! We lost in the tournament to old mom women, who had children on the side-lines cheering "go mom!". I was pist! It was humiliating! And I thought our team was going to the top!

Anyways, they begged me to come play, so they would have enough players, and I finally caved. I step on the court, having been awake less than 20 minutes, sore from yogaX, and having not played ball in probably a year. Dribbling a basketball never felt more awkward. I have always said my basketball abilities are pure luck... every shot I make is because I am lucky. I have no true skilz at all.

In the 5th grade I played speed everyday at recess with the boys. One day we were playing from half court, because we were feeling crazy, and I freaking grannied it and swooshed it in to get Jared Shellenberg out. Nothing but net, the only one to make it even close to the back board, complete luck. It was probably the coolest moment of my life, I'm still living off that high.

With that being said, of course I was the first one to score Saturday morning for our team. And the highest scoring player in the first half of the game. "MVP" I kept reminding my team, "MVP".

We still lost. But it's good to know I'm still lucky.

  2. I wish I could have known you in your glory days. Now you are just the relief society president trying to relive your glory days. I am {not} embarassed for you.
