So lars and I went to the erykah badu concert Tuesday night, and I should probably write a few thoughts on the evening before I forget how fantastic it was.
I loved this concert with all my heart for a list of reasons:
#1 the crowd was older and respectful
#2 lars and I front row and didn't get smashed to death
#3 there was no opener, just 2.5 hours of badu
#4 badu is one of the funnest performers I've ever seen
#5 badu is the most beautiful woman in all the world
#6 the back up dancers made me very happy
#7 a man was rocking out with a flute
#8 the DJ on the stage was playing the funnest mash-ups I've ever heard
#9 badu can make the f-word sound pretty
#10 my ear was miraculously healed by the music from that stick that went into it from the hike I went on with Tom
Honestly, through the entire evening I had this amazing feeling of gratitude for erykah badu. She is a one-of-a-kind performer. The music and energy she creates on the stage is what I my heart needs every once in a while. I just am so grateful that she does what she does, because not just anyone can do it. And we need music like this, and concerts like this. Thank you, badu.
To see a bit of what this concert was like, I would youtube erykah badu's vortex tour.
Here is a link to her beating on a drum, I love it! PUSH THIS
Yes! Thank you for writing this! I couldn't put it all into words. It's gonna help me not forget. You still gonna buy some albums?
ReplyDeletewow, I bought my first cd by her my senior year. This post brought back some fun memories! Did you know she was in Cider House Rules? Dramatic show, but she was in it.
ReplyDeleteReally? Katie, you a Badu fan? Too bad I didn't know this when I saw you last night... that would have been a fun chit chat.
ReplyDeleteShe has been on Sesame Street, I'll invite you over next time she's on!
