This last weekend I went backpacking with the OAC from UVSC. I didn't think that I was going to get to go because I waited too long to sign up, and only made it on the waiting list behind 5 others. But last week one of the group leaders called me up and said they had a few drop out, and I was in. The trip was a 3-day backpacking trip through Hackberry Canyon, and it was so fantastic.
I didn't know a single soul that went on the trip, but I kind of like it that way. It makes you rely on yourself more because I didn't have anyone really there to help me. Like setting up camp, cooking, purifying water, and taking care of blisters.
I don't own a camera so I don't have any pictures to prove how beautiful hackberry canyon is, you'll just have to take my word on it. Oh my goodness, it was gorgeous! I love southern Utah. Our hike started in a slot canyon, and opened into a wider canyon, and then ended in another slot canyon. And the scene around us was constantly changing. We hiked through such a variation of beautiful scenes. The best were these giant red red cliffs, contrasted with really green trees.
It was nice being away from music, and work, and school. I need to go on trips like that at least once a month.
I can't wait to go again.
I love being outside. I love getting dirty.
